Get in

Visas are required for everyone except passport holders of most of CIS countries. "Letter of Invitation" (LOI) is no longer required for citizens of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland and United Kingdom, but is still required for most others, for Canadian & US citizens under the simplified visa procedure. LOI can be obtained from travel companies when a hotel booking or travel package is made. Within 3 days of entrance to the country, you need to make registration, an official statement, indicating the address you are staying at. When you enter Uzbekistan you will be asked to declare all the money you are bringing into the country. Also ensure that this declaration is made in 2 copies and to keep one copy of the declaration form with you, duly signed and stamped by the customs official as this will be required at the time of departure as a proof of money that you brought in.

By road
Uzbekistan has road connections to all its neighbours. Most of the roads were esteblished during Soviet Period but after the independence of states have been updated. Uzbekistan is a member of Trans Caspian road system and you may notice it by heavy lorries carrying goods from one country to another via uzbekistan.  If you are travelling on your own transport, as long as your papers are in order, entering Uzbekistan should be no problem. You will be asked to fill out two identical customs declarations forms, where you will declare your transport and pay depending on engine power. Most of the roads have roadsigns in Latin uzbek alphabet, so travelling is easy for the foreigners.
